Thankful on Thursday

I am thankful for my amazing husband. He has made going back to work so much easier.

He gets off work earlier than I do, so he picks Grace up from daycare, comes home and starts cooking supper. When I get home from work shortly after, my responsibility is to play with Grace so B can finish cooking. Works for me!

We have some family time after supper, then B helps me clean up. He is awesome and I don't know what we would do without him!

Wordless Wednesday (Look Who's Walking!)

Friday Night Leftovers (Ear Infections, Tub Poops, and Snow Storms, Oh My!)

• It turns out that what we thought was a cold, was actually an ear infection. Poor Gracie!
• She is on antibiotics now, and is starting to feel better. 
• She loves the banana flavored medicine, which is great - we don't have to fight to get it in to her!
• We'll be missing swimming lessons again tomorrow. 
• We got a bunch of snow this afternoon. The roads were really messy and slippery, and it took me 2 hours to get home! (It usually takes 30 minutes, in traffic). 
• I was beyond frustrated. 
• I was so glad to get home and see my baby girl!
• Great Aunt T had picked Grace up from daycare, and she had to work this evening so I felt bad for keeping her here longer than we had planned, although she understood. 
• I gave Grace a quick, simple supper since it was already getting close to her bedtime. 
• Then she pooped in the tub. 
• I got her and the tub cleaned up, we read a few books, then I put her to bed. 
• I am now going to relax and have a cup of hot chocolate!

Thankful on Thursday

Today (and everyday, really) I am thankful for Grace's great aunts. Some live nearby, some not so much but they are all always there for Grace, and us.

This past week, Great Aunt M-A took care of Grace on Monday afternoon. Grace was sick so we decided to keep her home from daycare, but since I just started back to work and B was working evenings, we didn't want to call in sick if we could help it. Grace and M-A had a great afternoon, and Grace learned a new word - birdie! She is now always pointing out the window, looking for birdies. She is also trying really hard to say M-A's name. Great Aunt T picked Grace up from daycare today and is doing so again tomorrow. Grace has been trying to say her name too. They had a fun afternoon together!

Between Grace being sick and me going back to work, having family around to help us out when we need it is awesome. I know that Grace's great aunts that live farther away would do the same in a heartbeat if they were closer.

Wordless Wednesday

13 Months

Grace was 13 months old on Friday, but I just didn't have time to write an update this week! Here's a quick one:

• Grace is very close to walking. She'll do 4-5 steps between B and I, then fall into us. 
• She has her first cold! Poor thing. 
• She still loves to talk. She babbles constantly, but has quite a few real words as well - Hi, Bye, Mum, Dada, Socks, Boots, Shoes, Cat, Murr, Cheese, Zilla. She's still doing some sign language, and will sign milk, more, all done, and banana. She is always trying to repeat things that we say. 
• She knows where some of her body parts are. She will point to her nose, mouth, head, and belly when asked. She will tell you what sound a dog, cat, cow, rooster, and bird make. 
• Favorite toys are currently books, the ball popper, activity cube, and the play food from her kitchen. 
• We're getting down to one nap per day. Sometimes she will still have two, or will have a little rest in the morning but she will usually have one nap in the early afternoon. 
• Her favorite foods lately are berries. Blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, she loves them all. 
• She is funny and has such an awesome personality.  

Friday Night Leftovers

• I survived my first week back at work!
• Grace is loving daycare. Knowing this makes it easier to be back at work, but I still miss her. A lot. 
• We really need to stick to a meal plan now that B and I are both working. I think we will cook and freeze a few meals this weekend. 
• Grace is 13 months old today! I will post an update over the weekend. 
• She will be walking soon! She will take a few steps between B and I and then fall into us. She loves using her walker and pushes it all over the house. 
• We have our second swimming lesson tomorrow. Grace loves the water, but wasn't a big fan of the family change room, especially when the air hand dryers were going. 
• It's been a long week and I'm tired so that's it for tonight! Happy Friday the 13th!

Friday Night Leftovers

• Grace started daycare yesterday. I was very emotional all week - lots of tears. Thankfully, there were no tears from Grace on her first day and she had a great time!
• Our daycare provider is wonderful. I just would love to be able to stay home with Grace. 
• I stayed with Grace yesterday for 1.5 hours, then she was there on her own for almost 4 hours. She had a short nap, but I'm sure as she gets used to the place she will sleep longer.
• I don't think it will be long before Grace is walking. She seems eager to chase after the other kids at daycare!
• We have our first swimming lesson tomorrow! I am so excited, and I think Grace will love it too! She hasn't been swimming since the summer. 
• We are also looking forward to seeing Uncle Rob and Auntie Sharla this weekend!

Goals for 2012

We rang in the new year with family and a couple close friends. We spent the night at Zilla and Grampers' house, had lots of snacks, had a few drinks, played cards and Jenga. B bought a bunch of fireworks and set them off at midnight; Grace slept through everything!

I've never really been one to make New Year's resolutions, but I do have some things I'd like to accomplish this year. Maybe if I write them here I'll be more likely to stick to them!

 - Print and frame more photos.

 - Mail birthday cards to family and friends.

 - Try a new recipe once a month.
