Tuesday Tune

We love dancing to this song! Grace also loves this video. She loves the clothes and always comments on the girls' outfits, and she loves the hairstyles. She always asks to watch the video with "the girls with the poofy hair"

Cardboard

Cardboard boxes can be tons of fun. We've used them as hats, turned one into a little train for Grace, and use them as little houses for Grace's stuffed animals. When Zilla asked if we wanted the big cardboard hospital that was used on the float her work put in the parade, we said "of course!"

It was built to stand on the float so it wasn't made to allow little people to go inside (it was 6 big boxes stuck together), but after a bit of cutting we had two doors, a couple windows, and two little rooms inside! Grace had a ball playing in it last night. It's raining a bit today so we'll see how it makes out because the house is too big to bring inside, but I'm hoping we can get some more use out of it!

Mommy squeezed inside to play for a bit! It was hot in there!

The Fair!

We took the girls to the fair last night. I loved going to this local fair every summer as a kid. I wasn't sure how Grace would do on the rides but she loved every minute! I'm pretty sure she would have stayed there all night, riding the ferris wheel and the carousel. The smile on her face was priceless.

First time on the carousel, with Zilla. Grace waved to everyone as she went around!

We went on the Ferris Wheel three times! She loved when it stopped at the top.

Daddy trying to win a big prize.

Her first solo ride! All smiles.

Looking pretty comfortable on there...

She wanted Daddy to go on the horsie with her.

Weee!

Anna had fun watching big sister and she loved the music!

Rainy Day Memories

It's been raining since we got home from Cape Breton on Monday night. Grace was a little restless this morning so we decided to go outside and play in the rain! Brian is still off work so he stayed in with Anna.

Grace and I headed outside in our pj's and rubber boots, and walked next door to the basketball court to jump in puddles. It was one of those moments that I used to think about when Grace was just a baby. As much as I enjoyed snuggling her when she was little and lamented the fact that she was growing up too fast, I often thought about all the fun things we would eventually do as she got older, and the memories we'd make. Jumping in puddles and playing in the warm summer rain were things I loved as a kid. We would walk down to the lake in the pouring rain, wearing just our bathing suits, and splash in all the puddles on the way down, then go swimming. Since we're not within walking distance to the lake, Grace and I settled for the puddles in the basketball court.

I love seeing her so excited! She was happy to be outside in the rain (which we haven't done much lately because I haven't wanted to bring Anna out in the rain with us). We ran from puddle to puddle, splashing each other and getting soaked. I don't want to forget her excited little voice saying "Here's another one! Follow me, Mommy! Jump like this!" She just mastered jumping with both feet off the ground over the past couple weeks. We chased each other around, her little bum peeking out of the top of her pyjama pants as they got wet and started falling down. It was so much fun. I didn't want to bring my camera out in the rain so I don't have any pictures, but I want to remember this day!

It's the little things.

3rd

Today is our third wedding anniversary! Brian is an amazing husband and the best father I can imagine for our girls. We love him so much!

Tuesday Tune

We heard this song on the radio when we were at the camp a couple weekends ago, and Grace has been singing it ever since!

We're Home!

We're back from our little vacation in CB! We usually make the 3+ hour drive in the morning or early afternoon, but decided to stay for an early supper at Memé and Pepé's and then drive home, with the hopes that both girls would sleep the whole way. Anna slept most of the way but Grace stayed awake the whole drive! We just got home around 10:15pm and put the girls right to bed. Hoping they'll sleep in a bit tomorrow!

We had a great time while we were away! Uncle Robbie and Auntie Sharla's wedding was absolutely beautiful. I have some catching up to do on the blog but it won't be happening tonight!

8 Months

This past month:

  • Anna has started sleeping better. Naps are going well, and the girls usually nap at the same time in the afternoon (Yay!). She has slept through the night a few times recently but often still wakes once, but it's a quick wake up to eat and then right back to sleep.
  • She has a tooth! It popped through just yesterday, actually. It's still not all the way up but it's definitely there!
  • Eating solid food is still slow going. She still wants nothing to do with purées but she likes feeding herself small pieces of food. The amount she is actually eating is still very small, but we're making progress.
  • Anna has started crawling! She first started moving around on her hands and knees on Canada Day, and we can officially call her a crawler now. She gets faster by the day!
  • Now that she's more mobile, she's more interested in getting to whatever Grace is playing with. You'll often here Grace say "no, no, no Anna!" If Anna gets too close to something Grace doesn't want her to have, Grace will run to me and say "She's trying to get _____. Can you pick her up?!"
  • She is 100% a blankie girl, just like her big sister.
  • She had her first dip in the lake! We've been spending a lot of time at the lake and she likes splashing around and loves watching her big sister in the water.
A few things I don't want to forget:
  • Her sweet, gummy smile! Now that teeth are making an appearance we won't see it much longer.
  • The way she likes to "sing" with Daddy. When Brian sings and dances her around, she does this sing-songy coo, it's so cute.
  • How excited she gets whenever Grace does something funny. She shakes her arms and does a funny little inhale laugh.

And just for fun, Uncle Johnny got in on the photo shoot too!
