That's What She Said

Grace:

Oh, I'm sorry. My mistake!

Anna, I'm trying to opercate here!

G: Mommy, we need to get out of the van, it stinks in here!
Me: Did you toot?
G: You did.

Look at all of our beautiful Easter decorations! - said to anyone who walks in our house lately.

Grace has also been experimenting with different fake laughs lately. Some of them are hilarious and we always end up laughing for real.

Anna:

DeeDee, weh ah you? - Gracie, where are you? (While playing hide-and-seek)

Me: Can I have a kiss?
Anna: Um, no Mommy.

Hi Mommy! Bangee! - This is the general greeting lately when I walk into Anna's room in the morning, said while she is pointing at her blankie that she threw out of the crib.

LENNAN! - said in a scolding, motherly tone whenever Lennan takes a toy from her. Often accompanied by a few smacks on the head. Sorry Lennan!

Hee I come!
Song, Mommy? - Love when she asks me to sing to her!
Look, Mommy!

Some of her latest new words:
Cup
Cracker
Nonny (Uncle Johnny)
Match (Uncle Matt)
Poop - I guess you gotta learn this one at some point, right? Not surprising that she learned it early considering she hears me or Grace ask "did you poop?" at least once a day. Anna has also started telling us when she's pooped - she'll walk up and say "poop! poop!" and when I say "Anna, did you poop?" she usually responds with an enthusiastic "Yeah!"
Supper
Hungee (Hungry) - She will try to sing the snack time song that we sing at Wee Bears!
Dowa (Dora) - we have another Dora fan in the house!
Ah-den! (Again!)

Marco Polo

Grace and Anna almost always have a bath together. We started this once Anna could sit up a bit in the bath seat and both of the girls love it. I've always given Grace the choice of having a bath by herself or with Anna, and she always chooses to have a bath with her sister.
After they're cleaned up and have had some time to splash around, I take Anna out first to get her dried off and into her jammies. This gives Grace a few minutes of extra playtime in the tub by herself while I'm just across the hall, literally just a few steps away from the bathroom. She knows not to stand up in the tub or try to get out, and I always talk to her while I'm in the other room with Anna. It was Brian's idea to play our own version of Marco Polo - I'll call out "Marco!" and Grace will answer "Polo!" so we know she's paying attention and isn't getting into trouble!
Anna has picked up on our little game and has joined in! As soon as I take her out of the bathroom, she yells out "Mahco!" and waits for Grace to yell back "Polo!" They keep this going until we go back to the bathroom to get Grace, it's so cute!

In their favorite princess towels!

Teacher

Grace loves the idea of going to school. She will often talk about how she can't wait until she is able to start school and how fun it will be. We play 'school' fairly often. It usually starts with a pretend ride on the bus (sometimes she drives, sometimes she wants me to drive) and then we arrive at the school. Lately she wants to be the teacher. Today she pulled up this toy and sat down in front of Anna and I to read to us. She started reading, then stopped and said "The teacher is cold. Go get me a blanket."

Then she said "Hey! I look just like Elsa with this cape on!"
(We may have watched the movie Frozen once or twice too many times recently).

Second Time Jitters?

I took Grace to the dentist for the first time last Fall. She did amazingly well, and didn't show any signs of being scared. We talked a lot about it beforehand so she knew what to expect, and she actually seemed to enjoy the experience.
Today was her second appointment. I mentioned it last night and her immediate reaction was "No! I don't want to go to the dentist!" I was surprised, and even after we talked more about it and chatted about her last visit, she still did not want to go. This morning, she was near tears at the thought of going. I told her that if she did well at the dentist, we would stop at the store on the way home and she could pick out one thing (yes, I bribed her. Probably not the smartest idea, but ... whatever). Brian was going to take her but she insisted that I do it. As soon as we got in the van, she was fine. We ended up waiting for over half an hour (even though we were there on time) but Grace was content to sit at the little desk in the waiting room and color, and played with Lego for a while. She did great while the dental hygienist counted and cleaned her teeth. She didn't want to wait for the dentist to come do his check; she couldn't wait to get back to the "living room" to finish her coloring. The hygienist was so sweet and went out to get the coloring book and crayons and brought them in so Grace could color in the big chair while we waited for the dentist. All in all, another successful visit!
We stopped at the store on the way home and Grace picked out a little tiara/earrings/necklace set. Two dollars well spent!

Spring!

Today was the first day that really felt like Spring! It was sunny and mild, and even got up to 16 degrees at one point! We went for a nice walk with Auntie Murr and Madeline; Grace loved exploring along the dirt road near Murr's house and found some pretty rocks, a few mussel shells, and some seaweed near the water. We're supposed to get a ton of rain tomorrow but I really hope this Spring weather keeps up!

Happy Birthday Auntie Murr!

Murr's birthday is tomorrow, but since the husbands are at the camp for their annual guys weekend, aka Sausage Fest, Grace and I took Murr out for supper last night.
We went to Mic Mac Tavern, one of our favorite spots. It's not fancy, but the food is always delicious. We all enjoyed our meals; Grace had chicken fingers and fries and a glass of chocolate milk, which she always picks when we go out to eat. Not a healthy meal but we don't go out to eat that much so it's a nice treat! To top it off, we went out for ice cream after. Grace had a hard time finishing hers, I think her eyes were bigger than her belly!

Girls Day Out

The girls and I spent the day with Aunt MaryAnne last Friday and we had a lovely day! We started with a snack at Aunt MaryAnne's house, then headed to the Discovery Center! When we first walked in it was chaos - there were 5 school groups there at once! MaryAnne and I shared a look of "maybe this wasn't such a great idea" but it ended up working out perfectly. We explored upstairs while most of the school groups were downstairs, then we had the downstairs to ourselves while the school groups were either leaving or breaking for lunch.
We then walked a few blocks to the Freak Lunchbox. Grace had never been there before and loved it (what kid wouldn't love an entire store devoted to candy?) She was very pleased with her huge sucker and big bag of candy. We went to Jim's for lunch and despite being tired, the girls were awesome. Both of the girls passed out pretty quickly on the drive home!

Grace was very excited to show MaryAnne the penguin! It was what she talked about the most after we were here in December

She loves this truck too

Before I know it they'll be out driving around together for real! Eeep!

Anna had a great time exploring everything too!

There were a few girls in the bubble room when we got there and they helped Grace blow some big bubbles. They were very sweet!

Checking out the Touch Tank! This wasn't open last time we were there.

Mussels, clams, sea urchins, starfish, oysters, sea cucumbers, and more!

Anna was happy to just run around

Looking a little tired but having a great time!

Walking to the candy store

First time at the Freak Lunchbox!

Goldfish and crayons - necessities while we wait for our meals

Birthday buddies coloring a picture

Back at MaryAnne's, Grace pretended to be a cat sleeping in Cassie's bed

CANDY!
